Halting to realize
Halting to realize
Choreography by Mia Habib
Program note
”Suppression has existed in all times. It appears in our lives and has many faces. It’s present in a childs game, in the history of religions in the visible and hidden actions of states. It’s allowed to persist. How short is the distance between the oppressor and the oppressed? Our national minority groups have been the focal point for my work with suppression in the choreographic piece. The title refers to a sung sung by gypsies of the north. The music consists of samplings from Gjertruds Gypsy Orchestra, Hulda Johansen, Gypsy Summer soundtrack, Hermann Kahan.”
First performance at Haugesund Theatre, Haugesund, May 3rd.
